Council of Ministers works on intensifying protecting Diyala monuments

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Citizens’ Affairs and Public Relations Directorate within the Secretariat of Council of Ministers discussed with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiques the topic of protecting Diyala’s ancient sites. The Director General of the Directorate Mohamed al-Timimi said that his Directorate “consulted the Ministry of Tourism about the necessity of intensifying the protection measures for the province monuments and prevent overtaking them.” Timimi added “The ministry sent archeological missions for excavation to rescue the remains from plunder acts,” noting that “The ministry also is working on gaining approvals for the provision of functional degrees as security guards for the ancient remains in the province.”
