Fire breaks out in downtown Baghdad machinery depot

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A fire swept through a machinery depot near al-Nahda garage in downtown Baghdad, an Iraqi police source said on Wednesday, adding that the cause of the blaze remains unknown. “The fire has damaged a large number of machinery and vehicles inside the depot, but no casualties were reported,” the source told IraqiNews.com. “Civil Defense personnel were immediately on the scene and have managed to prevent the spread of the fire to neighboring structures,” according to the source. The depot, which extends along the Ministry of Oil building and the street leading to Falasteen Street, houses hundreds of machinery and used vehicles. SS (P) 1
