13 suspects detained in security operations- MNF

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Thirteen suspected “terrorists” were arrested on Friday and Saturday during security operations in northern and central Iraq, the Multi-National Force (MNF) said on Saturday. “Forces continued to pressure AQI command and control networks in Mosul late Friday. A wanted man believed to conspire directly with local AQI leaders was captured along with two suspects assessed to be his associates,” read an MNF statement received by IraqiNews.com. “Saturday in Mosul, forces detained four suspects during three synchronized operations early Saturday near Al Asad, 185 km northwest of Baghdad. The operations, one of which was conducted alongside Iraqi police, netted three suspects believed to have connections to the province’s terrorist leaders.” “Coalition forces also partnered with Iraqi forces during another operation Saturday, targeting an improvised explosive device cell member near Tuz Khurmatu, 69 km southeast of Mosul. Two individuals believed to be associates of the wanted man were detained,” the statement added. “AQI bombing networks in Baghdad were also degraded Saturday. There, forces captured a wanted man who reports suggest is part of an IED cell in the city. He is also assessed to have connections to Baghdad AQI leaders,” the statement concluded. SS (S) 1
