Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The PM Nouri al-Maliki said “The Advancement of the Supreme Commission for Human Rights needs more seriousness, impartial and neutrality rather than alignment for this or that party for any reason,” noting that “The Human Rights term is wide and covers prisoners’ rights, investigation procedures as well as other issues that have to be taken in our consideration.”

A statement by the Prime Minister’s Office to Iraqi News agency (IraqiNews.com) stated that “Maliki met with members of the Supreme Commission for Human Rights and assured during the meeting the importance and seriousness of the task assumed by the Commission.”

The statement quoted Maliki as saying, “I wish the work to be for the benefit of the person rather than for the parties or ethnicity to which he belongs,” stressing “existence of human rights’ violations that continue to occur here and there and should be eliminated.”

The statement mentioned that “The Prime Minister pledged to support the Commission and help its members do their job and ensure the success for their mission.”

The statement noted that “Members of the Commission stressed on the need for cooperation between state institutions and the Commission for better performance and the achievement of its important objectives.”
