Haidari calls to amend special item of local elections law draft

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Independent High Electoral Commission called the parliament to amend a special item of the local elections law draft where the Planning Ministry to renew the record of the electors.


The head of the IHEC, Faraj al-Haidari, stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “We will doing our best to request the parliament to amend the item of the local elections law drafts which states that the Planning Minister will renew the electors’ record and not the Trade Ministry.”

“The Planning Ministry lacks such kind of update where it does not have the required date for electors, where as the Trade Ministry adheres to the Ration Card date to update the electors’ record,” he added.

“We discussed with issue with the parliament Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, and we will call the parliament to host us after resuming its sessions to clarify this issue,” he pointed out.

He called the “Council of Ministers to expedite endorsing the total budget of the IHEC to perform its tasks for the next elections.”
