Iraq participates in consulting conference over Syrian in Tehran

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraq, in addition to 30 other countries, has participated in the consulting conference held in Tehran on Thursday over Syria.

In the opening address, the Iranian Foreign Minister, Ali Akbar Salihi, stated that “Iran was a part of the peaceful settlements to the regional crises,” stressing the necessity of “Settling the Syrian crisis through the national dialogue.”

“The Islamic Republic of Iran stressed on conducting dilague and the peaceful political settlements to settle the Syrian crisis at its beginning in order to achieve the demands of the Syrian people and keep stability in Syria,” he added.

He pointed out “Iran supported the initiative of the Secretary General of the UN, Ban Ki-moon , to nominate Kofi Annan , as the a special representative of him in addition to sending the international observers to Syria,” noting that “Iran is ready to host the talks between the Syrian government and opposition in order to achieve the democratic political process.”

“The lack of stability in Syria will affect the Syrian people and the region where arming the armed groups will lead to the lack of the stability in the other regional countries and increase the crisis,” he concluded.
