Khafaji: “Complementary budget to focus on housing, education sectors”

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP Abdul-Mahdi al-Khafaji of the State of Law Coalition assured that “The draft of the complementary budget for 2012 was refused because it includes more than one axis and we call for submitting it with two major axes represented by housing and education.”

He told Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) today that, “The budget law draft was presented by the government with many axes, including health, education, security, defense and others,” noting that “It was rejected it in order to present it with two main axes, which are housing and education, and this is a positive indicator about intentions to turn it into a services budget.”

He continued saying that “We are now waiting for the government to present a new budget draft for the importance of the issues of housing and education at the present time in the country,” calling on the government to “Open the door of investments in order to eliminate unemployment and poverty.”

Parliament has completed its first reading of the complementary budget for the fiscal year 2012.
