Environment Ministry warns bricks, asphalt factories, slaughterhouses in Najaf

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Ministry of Environment directed several warning letters to bricks and asphalt plants as well as a number of slaughterhouses in Najaf province for violating the environmental laws.

A statement by the Ministry cited “The Ministry sent many warning letters to bricks plants among them asphalt factory in Bahr al-Najaf area for purpose of completing environmental approvals and brick plant which uses huge amounts of black oil,” noting that “Najaf Provincial Council removed some of factories according to environmental regulations.”

“The Ministry also instructed Environment Department in the province to stop violations conducted by Najaf Slaughterhouse for red meat since it disposes the waste materials of meat near the outer fence of the slaughterhouse which causes pollution and spread of diseases among the inhabitants,” the statement added.

It is worth to mention that the law of the Environment Ministry states imposing fines on the violators in case they do not remove the transgressions.
