VP in Dukan for meeting

SULAIMANIYA / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Vice President Tareq al-Hashemi arrived at Sulaimaniya’s Dukan resort for a meeting that includes the Iraqi president, his deputies and the president of the Kurdistan region. “On Wednesday afternoon, Hashemi arrived at Dukan resort, where he was received by President Talabani and several members of the PUK’s political bureau,” according to a statement published on the official web site of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) A quadripartite meeting is scheduled to take place at Dukan resort to discuss the domestic political situation and the implementation of the U.S. troop withdrawal agreement. The modern city of Sulaimaniya, 364 kilometers north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, was founded in 1748 by a Kurdish prince known as Ibrahim Pasha Baban who named it for his father Sulaiman Pasha. Since being founded as the capital of a powerful Kurdish principality it has grown to about 1,800,000 people. SS (P) 1
