Najaf criticizes security measures adopted in commemorating Imam Ali’s martyrdom

Najaf (IraqiNews.com) The Secretary General of the Imam Ali’s Holy Shrine in Najaf criticized the security proceedings set for the ceremony of commemoration anniversary of martyrdom of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) in Najaf province.

Member of the Administrative Bureau of the SG, Mohamed Ali al-Hakim stated to IraqiNews.com “The security measures which were developed during the commemoration of Imam Ali’s martyrdom anniversary, are incorrect and useless because they blocked the streets in front of the pilgrims’ movement that obliged them to walk for very long distances especially this visit coincided with high temperatures climate.”

“The Holy Shrine’s administration demands the security committee in Najaf Provincial Council and the security forces to change and develop the security plans to be devoted for such occasions without affecting the visitors’ movement,” Hakim added.

Najaf province witnessed during the past days arrival of thousands of pilgrims from inside and outside Iraq to commemorate martyrdom of Imam Ali bin Abu Talib (peace be upon him).
