Mecca Summit concludes by suspending Syria membership
Mecca, Saudi Arabia (IraqiNews.com) The Conference of the Exceptional Summit for the Islamic Cooperation Organization held in Mecca, concluded work, early this Thursday, by issuing a decision to suspend Syria membership in the Organization.
The Final statement referred to the spate of violent suppression waged by the Syrian Government against its people.
The conference urged the Syrian authorities to immediately stop the violence and to allow the humanitarian relief organizations to enter Syria to relief the Syrian people.
The final statement also addressed a number of files, especially the Palestinian issue and the suffering of Muslims in Myanmar.
The summit which was attended by 40 States out of 57 members, has started its works, on Tuesday, August, 14th, with a speech by the King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, in which he suggested the establishment of a center for dialogue among the Islamic sects to be located in Riyadh.
