Iran increases electricity power exported to Iraq by 50%

(IraqiNews.com) Iran announced increasing its exports of the electric power to Iraq to 50% compared with 2011.

While meeting the Minister of Electricity, Abdul Karim Aftan, accompanied by a ministerial delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister, Ruse Nouri Shawis, the Iranian Minister of Electricity, Majid Namjo, stated that “The quanitity of Iranian exports of electricity to Iraq increased since last March by 3 billion kilo watt / h at a rate of 50% compared with the same period in 2011.”

Namjo added “The Iranian companies proved capabilities to compete with the international companies where it was agreed with these Iranian companies about establishing and developing the electricit power stations in Sadr City, Doura and Al-Haidariya neighborhoods.”

For his part, the Iraqi Minister of Electricity, Karim Aftan, said that “Iran exports 1200 mw to Iraq,” noting that “It is necessary to eliminate the obstacles and technical problems that face the process of exporting the power, confirming that the process of transferring electricity from Iran to Iraq entered into effect.”
