6 services projects opened in Wassit

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: Wassit‘s Governor Latief Hamad al-Tarfa on Thursday opened six services projects in north of Wassit with a total cost of $2.200 million. “The projects, which were inaugurated in al-Suwaiyra district in north of Wassit, include the district’s building, Dier Yassin school, drinking water project, a park, irrigation project and a 500-meter-long street,” Thamer Abd al-Saheb told IraqiNews.com. “There are other projects, the governor could not inaugurate due to the lack of time,” he added. A Shiite province, Wassit, 180 km south of Baghdad, is in the east of the country. Its name comes from the Arabic word meaning “middle,” as it lies along the Tigris about midway between Baghdad and Basra. Its major cities include the capital, al-Kut, and al-Hayy. Prior to 1976 it was known as Kut Province. SH (P) 1
