Economist highlights feasibility of measures taken to face rise in Dollar price

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The economist, Basim Jamil Antoine, stressed that “The measures taken by the Government will participate in limiting the rise in the US dollar price, yet they need long time.”

He stated to IraqiNews.com “These measures are related to the general economic situation in the country and the control procedures as the Central Bank of Iraq cannot decide since there are many economic and security sides that the Bank should cooperate with to face the high cost of dollar.”

Antoine assured “In the long term, Iraq can prevent the rise in dollar price through releasing large amounts of dollar equal to what is spent and this is what we see through lack of remarkable difference between the official price of dollar and the market price at the present time.”

“The Parliament does not follow professionalism in selecting the members of the Central Bank of Iraq and there are political aims behind this issue,” he added.

He referred to a “wave of criticism against the CBI in addition to launching accusations against the members of the CBI without offering official evidences.”

“The Parliamentary Financial Committee has to present evidences and designate the suspected people within the CBI for justice and show whether they are influential figures in the Government or they are mere false accusations,” Antoine demanded.
