Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The US Embassy in Iraq considered the visit of the US Chief of the Joint Staff, General Martin Dempsey, to Baghdad is to “assure the US support the developments in Iraq as a strategic partner.”

A statement by the US Embassy received by Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) cited that “The visit of the US Chief of the Joint Staffs, General Dempsey, to Baghdad came as a part of the US efforts within the Strategic Framework agreement to support the continuity of development in Iraq as a strategic partner contributing to peace and security,” noting that “Dempsey discussed, during his meeting with the Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and other Iraqi officials, the regional and security issues including the situation in Syria.”

The Chief of the Joint Staffs of the US Army, Gen. Martin Dempsey and his accompanying delegation, has arrived in Iraq yesterday, Tuesday, coming from Afghanistan.
