Maliki, Nijaifi discuss cooperation between legislative, executive authorities

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and the Iraqi Parliament Speaker Osama al-Nijaifi discussed the importance of consolidating cooperation between the legislative and executive authorities.

A statement by Maliki’s office to Iraqi News cited Sunday “Maliki received Nijaifi in his office in Baghdad on Sunday and both stressed importance of adopting Constitution as the only reference to settle all disputes.”

“Maliki stressed importance of achieving progress in reforms and handling pending issues such as Oil and Gas law, General Amnesty law and Justice and Accountability according to Constitution,” the statement added.

Maliki emphasized, according to the statement, necessity to end all disputes over oil contracts and investments in oil sector, referring to “Iraq’s intentions to develop its defensive military capacities, including receiving the F-16 jet planes scheduled on March 2013.”

“For his part, the Speaker Nijaifi assured the importance of sustaining the Iraqi interior front and settling all pending issues through conducting reforms according to constitution to serve interests of all Iraqis,” the statement concluded.
