No unexpected surprises in U.S. policy in Iraq – FM

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi foreign minister, Hoshyar Zebari, on Wednesday said that Iraq’s cabinet does not expect that the new U.S. administration under Barack Obama would make surprising changes toward Iraq, or an immediate withdrawal from Iraq’s lands, unless after consulting the Iraqi government. “The Iraqi cabinet does not look at who won the U.S. elections, but at his policies toward Iraq and level of mutual foreign relations,” Zebari told IraqiNews.com. “Dialogue with the U.S. side is still underway concerning the proposed security pact, and within the coming few days, we would be receiving the U.S. response concerning the amendments suggested by the Iraqi government to withdraw coalition forces from Iraq,” he said.
