MP urges gov’t to “abide” by Financial Administration Law
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A member of the parliamentary financial committee on Wednesday called on the Iraqi government to abide by the Financial Administration Law of the year 2004, which obliges it to submit the proposed 2009 budget to the Parliament in the current month. “Throughout the past years, the Council of Representatives has put off the debate on the budget for more than once, thus delaying the passage of the budget,” MP Sami al-Atroushi told IraqiNews.com. The Iraqi Ministry of Finance has announced a budget of $67 billion for the year 2009 in light of the drop in international oil prices. SS (P)/SR 1
