Attacks on churches, mosques target all Iraqis – PM

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi premier Nouri al-Maliki on Thursday said that the attacks on churches and mosques did not target a particular side, but “all Iraqis.” This came while he received a Christian delegation, according to a release issued by al-Maliki’s media office. “Iraq has never witnessed a Muslim – Christian problem, and those who targeted Christians are gangs, criminals, outlaws, and former regime’s elements,” the release that was received by IraqiNews.com quoted al-Maliki as saying. “We deployed security forces to make Christians feel secure and stable,” he said. “We are working to bring Christians back to their homes, and to preserve their rights like other Iraqis,” he added. “Security forces will not leave positions and will remain to protect Christians,” he noted.
