Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Reliable source from the State of Law Coalition, headed by the Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki revealed that “The latter adopted more security measures on the last hours to enhance his personal and his family protection against any possible assassination attempt due to the recent political developments, including the issuing the death verdict in absentia against the fugitive Vice President Tariq al-Hashimi who fled to Turkey.”

The source told the Kuwait Siyasa (POLITICS) newspaper on Wednesday that “The Office of the Commanding General of the Iraqi Armed Forces began reviewing procedures adopted to protect al-Maliki inside and outside the Green Zone, and took some important field decisions such as changing the place of residence for Maliki and his family in addition to imposing strict security measures around the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, where Maliki spends most of his time throughout the day.”

Based on statement of close sources from al-Maliki, the newspaper reported that “Regional countries and parties within the Iraqi political process are discussing the possibilities on the ground to get rid of Maliki,” noting that “Special assassination teams from abroad could be involved in this process.”
