Urgent – .Maliki receives Syrian opposition delegation

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, stressed, while receiving a delegation from the Syrian opposition in Baghdad on Friday, “The Iraqi stance in supporting the Syrian people to reach a solution for the Syrian crisis that keep Syria away from the civil war and the internal conflicts.”

A statement by Maliki’s office received by IraqiNews.com cited “Maliki received the delegation that was headed by, Mahmoud Daham al-Muslit, the head of the foreign affairs office of the National Syrian Council in America and Canada.”

“Both sides discussed the updates of the Syrian crisis and the means of stopping the blood shed by reaching a peaceful solution that accomplishes the ambitions of the Syrian people,” the statement added.

“Maliki confirmed that Iraq will not spare any effort to support the political solution for the difficult situation in Syria, calling the delegation to make use of the Iraqi experiment of the transitional stage,” the statement continued.

“The delegation assured finding a political solution to grant the change in Syria, stressing that Iraq plays a vital role in this respect,” the statement mentioned.

“The delegation emphasized that they are looking for Iraq’s support for the Syrian solution that is reached without foreign interferences,” the statement pointed out.

“The delegation expressed concerns over the conflicted foreign interferences which complicate the crisis as they expressed the opposition unified stance in rejecting the interferences,” the statement concluded.
