Italian FM to visit Baghdad soon
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Italian minister of state for foreign trade said on Friday that Italian foreign minister will visit the Iraqi capital Baghdad soon. This came during a meeting between Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and the visiting Italian official and his accompanying delegation, according to a statement released from al-Maliki’s office. “The minister reiterated his country’s support to the Iraqi government and its efforts to maintain security and stability in Iraq ,” the statement added. “The minister asserted that Italian Foreign Minister Massimo D’Alema will pay a visit to Iraq soon to highlight Italy ’s great interest to work in Ira,” it noted. The statement quoted the minister as asserting that he will come back soon to Baghdad with a number of Italian companies to take part in economic projects in agricultural, industrial, trade and oil fields. For his part, al-Maliki stressed the importance to activate the higher economic committee’s action between the two countries, pointing out Iraq ’s keenness to develop relations with Italy in economic and trade domains.
