Additional funding for electricity

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi electricity ministry said its budget for this year has been increased with an exceptional amount of around $2 billion, a ministry official spokesman said on Friday. “The ministry’s budget for 2009 is almost the same as of 2008, which is $1.7 billion, and the cabinet approved this budget,” Aziz Sultan told IraqiNews.com. “This year’s budget was supported by an additional amount of around $2 billion, to cover the contracts with Germany’s Siemens and the United States’ General Electric companies,” he said.
