Integrity Committee reveals involvement of key officials in corruption over arming IA

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Parliamentary Integrity Committee, revealed that some key officials are involved in the corruption over arming the Iraqi Army.

The spokesperson of the Committee, Hussein al-Asadi, stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) on Thursday “The Committee members are investigating the contracts to show whether there is a real involvement in the corruption issues or not in order to transfer them to the judicial sides to issue arrest warrants against those officials,” noting that “The corruption in arming the IA includes the contracts of purchasing the airplanes, personnel carriers and weapons.”

“The committee hosted the General Inspector of the Ministry of Defense to discuss the contracts of arming the IA since 2005 and there is a revision over those contracts,” he added.

“The General Inspector has provided us with a complete report over the investigations and the violations of the security leaders who receive money by allowing the soldiers to go home which resulted in disturbing the security situation,” he pointed out, stressing that “Some of these issues were transferred to the judicial sides and they were judged.”
