Christian delegation meets EU officials

BRUSSELS / IraqiNews.com: An Iraqi Christian delegation met officials of the European Commission to discuss conditions of Christians in Iraq and the issue of their representation in the upcoming provincial elections, a member of the delegation said on Friday. “The delegation on Thursday met the European official in charge of the Iraq department and other officials of the European Commission in its headquarters in Belgian capital Brussels,” Kamil Zomaia told IraqiNews.com. “The delegation explained the recent incidents in Mosul and reasons to minimize seats allocated for racial and religious components in Iraq’s forthcoming provincial elections,” he said. “The delegation explained the historic demand of our people to have autonomy at the places where they live in Iraq,” he added. “European officials we met stressed their full support for all the issues we put forward,” he noted.
