Diyala new Governor promises to resume his predecssor’s mission
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The new Governor of Diyala province, Omar Abdul Aziz al-Hamiri said “I will complete what the late Governor, Hisham al-Hayali, started in his efforts to fight the corruption and keeping in touch with the people of Diyala.”
Hamiri added in a statement by the Iraqi Islamic Party (IIP) to which he belongs “Diyala Provincial Council awarded me confidence to be Governor,” stressing that “This indicates that there is a consensus among all the political blocs over the candidate of the National Accord Front within the IIP to assume the office.”
Al-Hamiri won the post of Diyala Governor among five candidates from the National Accord Front.
Diyala PC has held a session, on last Tuesday, to nominate a new Governor to succeed the late Governor al-Hayali who passed away in a traffic accident last August.
