Blackwater indictment draft reviewed – The Times

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Prosecutors have drafted an indictment against six employees of Blackwater Worldwide, the private security contractor, for the deadly shootings of 17 Iraqi civilians last year, according to the British newspaper The Times. People close to the case, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that the Justice Department is reviewing the draft, but no charging decisions have been made yet. Blackwater guards, pictured training, left, opened fire in a busy intersection last year, outraging Iraqis and straining relations between Washington and Baghdad. The guards are immune from prosecution in Iraqi courts. The incident provoked Iraqi anger and marred relations between Washington and Baghdad. AmR (P) 1
