Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The independent MP of Diyala province, Ghaida Kambash, revealed a phenomenon which she described as “Very serious,” related to burning the orchards in Diyala province, calling the concerned authorities to “study the reasons of the wild fires and discover the sides behind them.”
Kambash said “A large number of orchards’ owners in Diyala were damaged by burning their farms because they depend on those agrarian lands as being the only source for earning their living,” demanding the stakeholders to compensate them.
“The areas that have been burn were very huge where 75 orchards that reach about thousands of donums were burned in one day in Diyala,” she added, clarifying that “No one knows who is behind these wild fires.”
“The aim behind this burning is to fight Diyala province and eliminate the agricultural wealth upon which Diyala people depend,” he emphasized
