Integrity Committee unveils forgery practices concerning land ownership in three provinces

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Parliamentary Integrity Committee revealed “Manipulation and forgery acts in the ownership process of pieces of lands in some provinces.”

The Head of the Committee, Bahaa al-Araji, stated to Iraqi News “We got information about 190 forgery cases related to developing or adding some properties and land pieces by changing the kind of lands from being agricultural to residential or from residential into commercial in provinces of Najaf, Baghdad, and left coast of Mosul, in Nineveh province.”

“These files are under investigations by the Integrity Committee,” he added.

“There are persons who are involved in this process since they registered those pieces of lands in their names or names of other people,” he assured.

Concerning the decision of the Justice Ministry over closing the two Directorates of the Real Estate Registration in Najaf, Araji clarified “This issue is not a new one,” he added, stressing “We addressed the Inspector General within the MoJ to reconsider this resolution and investigate it.”

It is worth to mention that the Ministry of Justice has decided to close both of Northern and Southern Real Estate Registration Directorates after unveiling forgery, manipulations cases and missing (22) real estate reports that belong to the era of the former regime and others after 2003.
