Cabinet approves 2 pacts with the U.S. – spokesperson

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com : Iraq’s council of ministers on Sunday approved two projects for two pacts with the U.S., one of them about forces’ withdrawal and the other related to political, economic and judicial cooperation, the Iraqi cabinet’s official spokesperson said in a release. “28 ministers attended today’s session of the council,” Ali al-Dabbagh said in the release that was received by IraqiNews.com. “The first Iraqi-U.S. agreement is about U.S. forces’ withdrawal from Iraq, and organizing those forces’ activities during their temporary presence in Iraq,” he added. “The second agreement frames the principles of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of politics, diplomacy, culture, health, environment, economy, and power, in addition to information and communication technology and implementing law and judiciary,” he explained. Al-Dabbagh noted that the council of ministers authorized Iraq’s foreign minister to sign both pacts with the U.S. side. MH (P)/SR 1
