Nusayif warns of nominating non-independent figures for IHEC membership

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP Aliya Nusayif of the Iraqiya Hurra bloc warned “Some political sides of nominating non-independent figures and convicted people to the membership of the Independent High Electoral Commission.”

Nusayif said to IraqiNews.com on Monday “Regrettably, certain political sides attempt to nominate non-independent characters for the membership of the IHEC to ensure their loyalty for specific political sides and benefit from them in forging the elections’ results in the future.”

“Those political blocs attempt to nominate figures who were involved, earlier, in crimes related to administrative corruption to facilitate the forging process in the future elections,” she argued.

Nusayif called to “Consider the real independence, integrity, professionalism and good conduct in each candidate for the membership of the IHEC.”
