Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Member of the Oil and Energy Parliamentary Committee MP Suzan al-Saad confirmed that “Iraq deserves to run the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) because Iraq takes the second place among the countries which export Oil.”

Saad mentioned in a statement to IraqiNews.com that ”Iraq is among the founders of the OPEC but Iraq has not any post inside the organization and it has not even any Iraqi employees,” stressing that ”Iraq must run the oil organization in 2013 after the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”

The statement pointed out that “The organization derives its power from the countries which export oil and Iraq takes the second place among the countries which export oil and Iraq has many oil engineers as well as oil companies which are capable of increasing the annual exports of Oil.”

The statement added that ”The members of the Oil and Energy Parliamentary Committee were surprised when they visited the headquarter of the OPEC because its staff does not include any Iraqi representatives whether employees or experts.” \
