Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Parliamentary Woman, Family and Childhood Committee announced that it will interrupt the next parliament session which is specified to nominate the Commissioners of the Independent High Electoral Commission without involving woman member among the Commissioners.

The head of the Committee, Intisar al-Jobouri, stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) on Sunday “We have requested before that the Iraqi woman must be represented in the new board of the Commissioners,” noting that “The Iraqi woman was marginalized and there is no role for her either in the government or the Independent Human Rights Commission and now she is marginalized in the board of the IHEC.”

“During the meeting of the heads of the political blocs and the parliamentary committees, we requested that woman must not be marginalized as before where in 2003 woman had six ministries , then they became four and now she does not have any except The Ministry of State for Woman’s Affairs which we do not recognize its existence,” she added.

“There will be an objection in the new IHEC board,” she pointed out, assuring that “The Committee will interrupt this parliament session over not involving the woman in the new board of Commissioners.”
