MP denies disputes between Maliki’s Party, Khuzayi’s Party over IHEC members
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Khalid al-Asadi, denied reports over dispute started between the members of the Dawa Islamic Party, headed by the Premier Nouri al-Maliki, and those of the Dawa Party/ Iraqi Wing, headed by the Vice-President Khudhair al-Khuzai, inside the parliament concerning the members of the Independent High Electoral Commission.
Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), he said “These reports are groundless,” stressing that “The sides within the State of Law Coalition to which the two parties belong are united.”
Parliamentary source reported to IraqiNews.com Monday “Members of the Dawa Party/ Iraqi Wing objected the nomination of candidates from Dawa Islamic Party for the IHEC rather than including the rest of the parts of the SLC.”
“Both sides exchanged accusations during the session,” the source added, noting that “Khuzai’s party accused Maliki’s of controlling the posts and violating the internal agreements concluded by the sides of the SLC, which forced the Chairman of the session to lift the session for one hour to end this quarrel.”
Earlier, parliamentary source has mentioned that “The Christian entity objected limiting the candidate of the minorities by the Turkmen’s candidate that caused a state of chaos inside the session to force the Speaker to lift the session.”
