Khor Al-Zubair Gas project needs Parliament’s approval

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Member of the Parliamentary Energy and Oil Committee, MP Furat al-Shara’ confirmed that “The Committee will study the gas project of Khor al-Zubair before inaugurating it by the Oil Ministry.”

Shara’ said to IraqiNews.com “The Committee will review the contract of Khor al-Zubair gas project during the few coming days before implementing it by the MoO because the Federal Government did not send it to the Parliament to study it earlier.”

It is worth to mention that the Free Zones Office within the Finance Ministry has announced that it prepares to conclude a contract with Basra International Center to construct a large investment project in oil and gas sector in Khor al-Zubair district in Basra without submitting it to the Parliament.

Some Parliamentary Committees considered this project as illegal unless it is approved by the Parliament.
