Economic Committee considers establishing free zone in Diyala
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The General Office of the Free Zones within the Ministry of Finance discussed, with the Parliamentary Economy Committee, the possibility of establishing a free zone in Diyala province.
A statement by the Office cited that “A delegation from the Economy Committee headed by the MP Nahida al-Dayni and MP Noura al-Bajari, visited the free zones in Iraq and inspected the workflow there as well as the obstacles that hinder the work.”
It pointed out that “The delegation listened to a detailed explanation about the extra revenues provided by the free zones to the Iraqi economy through operating many relevant sectors as well as providing all incentives, exceptions and facilitations to the investors.”
The delegation discussed the idea of establishing a free zone in Diyala encouraged by its vital strategic location,” noting that “The Parliamentary delegation promised to offer all support to upgrade the situations of the free zones and relief the obstacles facing their work,” the statement concluded.
