Budget allocated to Housing Ministry not enough, assures MP

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Member of the Parliamentary Services and Construction Committee, Iman al-Mohamedi, stressed that “The budget of the Ministry of Housing and Construction is not enough to erect housing projects.”

She said to IraqiNews.com “Iraq needs to build 150,000 housing unit per year, but the lack of adequate budget for the Ministry makes it difficult to establish such number.”

Mohamedi assured that “Constructing residential units needs to head towards the investment sector and this is what the Government adopted through establishing Basmaya housing complex in Baghdad,”

“Iraq suffers from clear housing crisis and high prices of buying and leasing the houses where the owners specify the prices of the houses without laws or regulations to limit the houses’ prices,” she concluded.
