Majid: Accusation of smuggling weapons to Syria part of foreign political pressures on Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Spokesperson of the State of Law Coalition, Yasin Majeed, considered the foreign accusation for Iraq over smuggling weapons to Syria and assisting the Syrian Regime as “A part of the foreign political pressures practiced against Iraq.”

Speaking to Iraqi News, he said “All sides realize where weapons are smuggled into Syria and they should first stop smuggling weapons to the Syrian opposition through Syria and Lebanon which has been declared by the Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal during a conference held in Tunisia.”

“Iraq is the only Country in the region which does not have a certain agenda in Syria,” Majid clarified, noting that “We suffered a lot from the Baath Party led by Saddam Hussein as well as the Syrian Baath Party, so we do not support the Baath Party but we reject to use the weapons in changing the regime there.”

“Some countries in the region do not want Iraq to take its leading role in the Region and want it to follow the Qatari Regime which is funny since Iraq is the origin of civilization and history and would not follow regimes that implement dirty actions in the Region,” Majid concluded.
