Karbala Governor calls to expedite establishing Karbala Oil refinery

Karbala (IraqiNews.com) The Governor of Karbala province, Amal al-Din al-Hir, called the Iraqi Ministry of Oil to accelerate establishing Karbala oil refinery project and to remove the obstacles that prevent its implementation.

Hir added that “Karbala province suffers from shortage in the fuel amounts especially during the holy occasions when millions of pilgrims visit the province,” noting that “The actual daily consumption exceeds 900,000 liters of fuel for vehicles while there are only 250,000 liters as a reserve kept in an old warehouse and one parking yard for the fuel trucks.”

“The excavation operations proved that there are huge amounts of crude oil in Karbala,” referring that “MoO intends to refer this topic in the next oil licenses round under what is so-called (Middle Euphrates Fields), he concluded.
