Talabani, Iranian Defense Minister discuss mutual relations

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The President, Jalal Talabani, discussed with the Iranian Defense Minister, Ahmed Wahidi, the mutual relations and the means of developing them.

A statement by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan received by IraqiNews.com on Thursday cited “Talabani received Wahidi and the accompanied delegation comprising the Iranian Ambassador to Iraq, Hassan Danai and some Iranian officials, at his office in Baghdad.”

“At the beginning of the meeting, Talabani welcomed Wahidi and appreciated his congratulations of the success of the medical operation that Talabani underwent in Germany,” the statement added.

“During the meeting, presented by the Iraqi Acting Defense Minister, Sadoun al-Dulaimi and the head of Talabani’s office, Nasir al-Ani in addition to some Iraqi officials, the two sides discussed the mutual relations between Iraq and Iran in addition to the means of improving them,” the statement pointed out.

The statement mentioned “The two sides stressed the importance of increasing the efforts to sustain stability in the region and consolidate dialogue to preserve the benefits of all sides.”

“For his part, Wahidi expressed the readiness of Iran to cooperate with Iraq to expand the join cooperation in all fields,” the statement concluded.
