Najaf PC member demands local government to update security procedures

Najaf (IraqiNews.com) Member of Najaf Provincial Council, Hashim al-Karawi, demanded the local government to adopt new security procedures to break the old techniques represented by closing the old city.

Karawi confirmed in statement to IraqiNews.com on Thursday to ”Develop new security plans that suit Najaf province than the rest of provinces for its historical importance and for the existence of the holy shrine of Imam Ali (PBUH) as well as the existence honourable religious Hawza in the province.”

Karawi demanded the officials in the local government and security forces to ”Break the old routine security procedures represented by closing the old city and all the road which lead to the city,” pointing out that ”These routine procedures have negatively effected the people of the province and some pilgrims also complained over these security procedures especially during the religious period.”

The security forces in Najaf province are closing the roads which lead to the Old city at any security breach in the province and the forces close the city in the season of the religious events. \
