Yasiri expects severe water scarcity soon

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Member of the Agriculture and Water Committee MP Hadi al-Yaseri confirmed that his committee will activate the law of using the international water courses for non-navigational purposes within the United Nations Convention, pointing that ”The upcoming days will witness a severe water scarcity.”

Yaseri reported in press statement received by IraqiNews.com that ”The Committee presented its recommendation to the presidency commission to activate the United Nations’ Convention about using the international water courses in non-navigational purposes and to arrange the agreement with four Arab and foreign countries in order to activate this law and to practise more pressures on Turkey to release the Iraqi water share.”

The statement added that ”The committee has some concerns about the water situation in Iraq and expect severe water scarcity in the next days.”

Many Iraqi provinces suffer from water scarcity and the Iraqi government attribute it to the dams which were built by Turkey and Syria in addition to the Global warming phenomenon. \
