Maliki emphasizes importance of cooperation with Czech Republic

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Premier Nouri al-Maliki emphasized the Iraqi desire to develop relations with the Czech Republic and take advantage of their expertise in all areas.

A statement for the Maliki’s office received by Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) mentioned that “Maliki held today a joint press conference with the Czech Prime Minister, Peter Nichas, after the end of the official talks between the two sides.”

Maliki said on the sidelines of the conference, according to the statement “The talks focused on developing bilateral relations on the economic and trade fields and then discussed developments of the political situation in the Middle East, particularly the crisis in Syria and the Iranian nuclear file.”

He added that “We have agreed to cooperate with the Czech Republic in the field of building oil refineries and the rest aspects of the oil industry,” stressing that “The Czech expressed interest in supporting the Iraqi security forces by providing them with weapons and defense weapons to combat terrorism, as well as cooperation in the field of construction of factories for the rehabilitation of Iraqi heavy industries.”

For his part, the Prime Minister Peter Nichas, according to the statement, assured that “Our relations with Iraq are solid,” noting that “Prague supported Iraq and the political process since 2003.”

He also expressed his country’s readiness to “cooperate with Iraq in all fields, especially economic and trade.”
