Citizen MP accuses government of controlling Independent Institutions

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Falih al-Sari, of the Citizen bloc accused “The government of controlling the independent institutions and making their heads as ministers who apply the instructions of the government.”

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), he said ” The rejection of some sides in the government to the independency of the Central Bank of Iraq, that was granted to it in the constitution, resulted in making the head of the CBI, Sinan al-Shibi, and some others officials in the CBI as victims.”

“The performance of the CBI was independent and practical, but the government rejected this performance where it aims to replace Shibi and his deputy, as it did in other institutions,” he added.

A parliamentary source revealed to IraqiNews.com that Shibi called the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, three years ago, to replace some heads of departments within the CBI, but the latter refused.’

“One of the judges issued a judicial warrant against Shibi where the head of the Supreme Judicial Council cancelled this judicial warrant and punished the judge because arresting Shibi offenses the sovereignty of Iraq,” the source concluded.
