Iqbal reveals violation in financing armament deal with Russia

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Mohammed Iqbal, of the Iraqiya Slate stated that there is a violation in financing the armament deal with Russia because the Iraqi funds are still in the (BFI) box of the Seventh Chapter of the UN’s Charter.

He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “Iraq cannot contract with Russia over arming the Iraqi Army where the USA may abort this deal and prevent the transfer of the Iraqi funds to Russia.”

“Arming the IA, in the deal with cost of four USD Billion, has increased the fears of some political blocs where this issue requires an explanation by the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, because such deals need to be discussed in the parliament,” he added.

“The timing of conducting such deal is incorrect and there are many notes over the contracted side because Iraq is witnessing new developments in Syria where we afraid that the politicians be affected by the Syrian situation which will affect the internal situation in Iraq,” he pointed out.

“Arming the IA is dangerous and sensitive issue because Russia and some eastern European countries do not set conditions over the use of the weapons in addition to that the purchased weapons are not competitive with the weapons of USA and Europe,” he concluded.
