Plans to receive U.S. bases – MOD

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Spokesperson for the Iraqi Defense Ministry on Sunday said that plans have been drafted by the two Iraqi Ministries of Defense and Interior to receive U.S. bases in Iraqi cities, according to the Iraqi-U.S. security pact that requires U.S. forces to withdraw from those cities no later than the end of June 2009. “The two Ministries have initiated plans to execute the pact,” General Mohammed al-Askari told IraqiNews.com. “Appointments have been made accordingly to execute the pact’s articles,” he added.
