MP describes forming Tigris Operations Command as "Constitutional"

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Member of the State of Law Coalition, Ibraheem al-Rikabi, described “Forming Tigris Operations Command as constitutional.”

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), he said “The constitution granted the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, the authority to frame the security policies in the country,” noting that “Forming Tigris Operations Command comes within the course of this authority.”

“This Command does not target any community rather it was formed to protect all the communities in the provinces of responsibility,” he added.

“The sides that describe the formation of Tigris Operations Command as unconstitutional are mere opinions,” he concluded.

Earlier, the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, tasked the Commander of Diyala Operations Command, General Abdul Ameer al-Zayadi, to assume the responsibility of three provinces.

Zayadi stated to IraqiNews.com “Maliki, as the General Commander of the Armed Groups ordered to task me to head the Command of Diyala, Salah-il-Din and Kirkuk province under the name of Tigris Operations Command.”

Some Kurdish sides objected this formation calling to cancel it.
