MoE completes radioactive map for radon gas

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Ministry of Environment announced the completion of a radioactive map for radon gas in the soil for 14 provinces which represents an indicator for presence of the uranium in the soil.

A statement by the Ministry cited that “The Centre of Radiation Protection associated to the Ministry completed the required data to set the radon radioactive map for the elements of the environment of (soil, air, and water).”

“The objective of setting this map is to detect the existence of radon gas in the soil which is an indicator and early alarm for the earth shakes as well as detecting the uranium in the soil in order to prepare a plan to protect the workers at the oil fields as this gas accompanies the operations of extracting the oil,” the statement concluded.
