DOC formed to fight terrorism, says official
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Commander of the Ground Forces, General Ali Ghaidan, declared that Dijla Operations Command has a security rather than a political imprint.
Ghaidan reported in press conference held at the headquarter of Dijla Operations Command attended by the correspondent of IraqiNews.com that ”The purpose of the formation of Dijla Operations Command is to unify the mutual coordination between the security forces to fight terrorists and stop them from spreading terrorism in Iraq.”
The statement added ”The formation of Dijla Operations Command is not against Kurdish or any other sect and they need to reassure that these forces exist to protect them and help them in fighting terrorism,” noting that “Through cooperation we can rebuild our country.”
The Iraqi Ministry of Defense had announced on 3rd /July the formation of (Dijla Operations Command) headed by the Lieutenant General, Abdul Amir al-Zaydi, to supervise the security file in Diyala and Kirkuk provinces.
The security committee in Kirkuk provincial council refused this resolution because “the province is a secured area and belongs to the disputed areas and this step will fail without a previous coordination among the governments of Baghdad, Erbil and Kirkuk.” \
