$ 14 billion spent on electric power projects since 2003 in Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity announced that it has expended $ 14 billion on projects of producing, distributing, and transmitting electric power as well as rehabilitating the old power stations since 2003.

The Spokesperson of the Ministry, Musab al-Mudaris, stated to IraqiNews.com that “The MoE has spent approximately $ 14 billion since 2003 on the Ministry’s projects.”

“$ 16 billion was spent as an operational budget divided on the Ministry’s employees’ salaries and dues of fuel purchases from the Ministry of Oil,” Mudaris added.

It is worth mentioning that the MoE has stressed, on last Sunday, the increase of the hours of providing the electric current in all provinces on background of the decrease of the loads on the power lines, noting that the production of power exceeded 8000 megawatt.
